THE STUDIO

Every project we undertake is a collaborative journey, where we work closely with our clients to bring their vision to life. This process begins with an in-depth consultation, where we explore your lifestyle, aspirations, and design preferences. From there, we craft a tailored design concept that reflects your unique style and creates a space that feels truly yours.

Once the design concept is established, we move into the detailed planning phase.

This includes creating a comprehensive technical drawing package that outlines every aspect of the design, from spatial layouts to precise measurements and material specifications.

These drawings serve as the blueprint for the project, ensuring every detail is carefully considered and executed with accuracy.

A key aspect of our approach is specifying custom elements to elevate the space. We work with skilled artisans and craftspeople to design bespoke furniture and tailor-made pieces that fit seamlessly into your home.

Whether it’s hand-crafted cabinetry, bespoke seating, or unique light fixtures, these custom elements are crafted to complement the overall design while adding a personal touch that mass-produced pieces simply can’t match.

In addition to custom furniture, we also curate unique artwork and accessories that enhance the aesthetic of each room. These elements are thoughtfully chosen to create a cohesive design narrative and elevate the overall atmosphere.

Throughout the entire journey, we maintain clear communication and transparency, ensuring that you’re always informed and involved. We work alongside a trusted network of contractors, craftspeople, and artisans to bring the design to life, overseeing every detail to ensure impeccable execution from start to finish.

The result is a space that is not only functional and beautiful but a true reflection of your personality and vision.

Nicola McEwan is the founder of Kew Interior Design, and with 23 years experience in both residential and commercial interior design, she has developed an exceptional eye for detail and a deep understanding of transforming spaces into personal, elevated sanctuaries.

A graduate of the prestigious Glasgow School of Art, Nicola laid the foundation for her design expertise with a focus on design principles, craftsmanship, and artistry. She studied Fine Art before beginning her degree at GSA and her education, coupled with extensive industry experience, gives her a unique perspective on creating spaces that are both functional and beautifully refined.

Nicola's career began at Architectural practice Greig & Stephenson, where she worked on F&B and hospitality projects in London and Europe. She later moved into residential design, notably working on a 15-bedroom guest house for Lady Salisbury and the Hatfield Estate. In this project, she collaborated closely with the architects and English Heritage to merge two buildings, incorporating furniture and fabrics from the wider heritage Estate into the interiors.

Throughout her career, Nicola has worked with a diverse range of clients and her design approach is rooted in close collaboration with clients, ensuring each project reflects their lifestyle, creative vision, and personality.

EMILY SMITH Interior Architect

Emily studied Interior Architecture at Cardiff Metropolitan University and has spent the last 14 years specialising in high-end residential design.

With a focus on prime locations such as Chelsea, Kensington, Mayfair, Belgravia, and across Surrey, she has developed an extensive portfolio of interior architecture projects.

Emily began her career at Weldon Walshe Architects, contributing to their interior design team. A standout project during this time was the full architectural package for Holland Park Villas, a prestigious development by Nativeland. This 180,000 sq ft project included 68 apartments and 4 penthouses, ranging from one to five bedrooms. She then played a key role in the Interior Design and Fitted Joinery departments at LINLEY, followed by positions at David Collins Studio and Matthews Rea Interiors.

These experiences allowed her to hone her skills on a wide variety of projects, from compact 1,000 sq. ft pieds-à-terre in central London to expansive 10,000 sq. ft family homes in Surrey.

Emily's expertise lies in seamlessly incorporating fitted joinery into existing spaces, and her training in the psychology of colour enhances her ability to craft thoughtful, cohesive designs.

Her passion for luxury materials, keen attention to detail, and creative vision are all central to her approach to creating beautiful, bespoke homes.
